Meet the Team who built the Path and the others without whom none of this would have been possible

  • Matt McConway

    Matt McConway was the Path Manager for the Sustainable Access and Habitat Restoration Project. Matt is Scottish and has worked for more than 25 years with Upland Access in Scotland, England & Ireland. His wealth of experience and awareness of the uniqueness of Croagh Patrick was critical to his approach to the treatment of mixed terrain and diversity on the holy mountain. Matt led the Path Team until project completion.

  • Frank McMahon

    Frank McMahon is vice chair of Mountain Meitheal Ireland, Co-Founder of the North Branch and member for more than ten years. He is also a member of Limerick Climbing Club. Frank spends his time volunteering with a host of different organisations. He holds an honours degree from the University of Limerick in Analytical Chemistry. He was a member of the Path Team from December 2020-March 2024.

  • Tulio d'Jesus

    Marcos Tulio Pereira de Jesus has a background in stonework and outdoor education & holds an honours degree from Atlantic Technology University (ATU) in Outdoor education. Tulio is originally from Goiânia, central Brazil, and has lived in the Westport for 20 years. Tulio was a member of the Path Team from December 2020-March 2024

  • Bernard Burke

    Bernard Burke has an honours degree in Outdoor Education from ATU. He is an outdoor adventure enthusiast: an avid explorer; a keen kayaker; a hillwalker and a nature photographer. Bernard was a member of the Path Team from December 2020-March 2024.

  • David Doyle

    David Doyle has been climbing Croagh Patrick for more the 30 years. Prior to this project he had his own business in Indonesia and holds a degree in construction management. David was a member of the path team from December 2020-March 2024 and remains on Croagh Patrick as Project Coordinator.

  • Caroline Goucher

    Caroline Goucher is responsible for the administration of the Stakeholder Group, Shareholders and Directors. Prior to the commencement of path work recruitment process, she was involved with stakeholder engagement & planning applications since 2018. Caroline is continuing in her role in the next phase of the project.

  • Martin Keating

    Martin Keating is the Chairperson of the Stakeholder Group. In 2015, Martin first contacted the many stakeholders associated with Croagh Patrick and began the long process of engagement & planning. It was through Martin’s tenacity and dedication that the vision of the Stakeholder Group was maintained, through responding to the increasing footfall and damage to the mountain over decades. Martin's leadership made the Sustainable Access and Habitat Restoration Project on Croagh Patrick possible. He continues to oversee the evolving plans for the project.
